A troubling experience
Indeed, our planned stay in the apartment didn't materialize as expected. I had made a reservation a month in advance with the intention of accommodating five adults and prepaid the entire booking amount. In the afternoon of the day just before our scheduled check-in, I tried to get in touch with the owner to confirm our arrival time. To my surprise, the owner responded with a voice message, explaining that we couldn't use the apartment due to the previous tenants having contracted COVID and being unable to leave the premises. Then, the owner deleted the message, blocked my mobile number, effectively severing any further means of communication and didn't make the required official declaration on the platform. Consequently, we found ourselves unable to request a full refund.
We had no option but to proceed with our journey and stayed at a hotel. The following day, we visited the apartment, contacted local police, leading to the discovery of a healthy foreign guest staying there for a three-week work assignment. We went to the local police office, where an officer contacted the owner to inquire about any current occupants in the apartment. To our astonishment, the owner falsely claimed that the apartment had no tenants.
However, on the afternoon of the second day of our initially planned stay, following the police officer's call, the owner finally submitted the necessary declaration on the platform. Consequently, we were notified that we were now eligible for a complete refund.
