I want to say that I have never written a review with less than a 4 or 5 rating before (and I’ve written many dozens), so I’m not ‘that guy’. Also, before writing this, I called the owner to discuss the issue with the trip, but they didn’t return my call.
First the good. The townhouse is very nice, in a nice location, with great views of the bay and sunsets. The unit is well-equipped and was very comfortable for me, my wife and our dog. It also included a pass to Honeymoon Island which was a nice benefit.
Our stay was a 14-night trip, arriving on 12/26 - 1/9. We planned meals in advance and caught grouper on a charter on 12/28. We were all set.
I initially used the dishwasher on 12/28, got an error code and contacted the owner. To our surprise, the initial response was “I don’t know what to do about it”. After our request to fix it, they agreed to call someone to come look at it and repair it. However, the earliest they could get their repair person here was 12/30.
When they arrived the repair person determined that the control board was bad and had to be ordered.
My issue is that 1) the dishwasher was not checked before we arrived and 2) the lack of responsiveness and urgency to fix it. When I talked to the owner, they said that they didn’t think this was a big deal that the dishwasher was not operational when we arrived. I’m glad it wasn’t the HVAC, refrigerator or hot water heater! He also indicated that they didn’t advertise that they had a dishwasher in the unit, despite having pictures of it on the web site. How can you believe that not having a dishwasher at these rental rates is acceptable?
With no communication from the owners, I called at 8:30am on Jan 4 for a status. I assumed the part was ordered when diagnosed and that it would arrive by Monday. I asked for a call back and when I didn’t hear from them, I called at 3:15pm. I was told they have a tracking# and that the part will be here on Jan 5. Depending on what time the part arrives, they “may fix it tomorrow”.
The repair person arrived Wednesday and replaced the board…12 days after we arrived. The non-working appliance curtailed our elaborate cooking plans, and I spent an hour/day handwashing dishes.
In summary, if you don’t mind a lack of responsiveness or customer service when you have an issue, then I would strongly encourage you to consider this property. For everyone else, I would recommend you avoid this property and any others owned by them.
