If you work on the principle that the quality of sleep is the most important part of a hotel, there can only be one score for this place - 1 star, and that's only because you have to give it one star at least.
We had a family room, overlooking the road. No aircon, so in the summer you have to keep the window open. All night (literally all night) cars, bikes, lorries, bin collections drive past, revving their engines around the bend. Result : you can't sleep. I am sure that the seafront rooms are fine, but on the road side, they are simply terrible.
The room is very 1970's from the furnishings. Bathroom small and not very modern.
Breakfast : extremely unfriendly staff!!! They push past, avoid eye contact, say nothing.....fruit from tins, poor selection.
Dinner : can't say, we were turned away at 7.45pm because the chef was going home.
Reception staff very friendly.
Pool - didn't use it, but it looked quite nice.
Bar - nice, refurbished. They organise quizzes and such in the evening, if you like that sort of thing.
Parking - none at all! Nearest public carpark about 15 minutes walk and that gets full quickly. On a nice evening, not such a problem, but if it's raining....
Hotel with great potential, but get a manager into the restaurant to supervise the staff!
Would only go back if I could be guaranteed a seafront room.
