What a lucky find you've made! At the end of a country road in Colorado's mesas and canyons country lives The Green Fish. On a dark clear night, look up to find the Milky Way has come out to play and an entire galaxy of stars shines down.
The landscapes you see coming in and upon arrival are worth every second of your planning and driving. From your hammock with morning coffee or evening cocktail, you can relax in this peaceful and thoughtful setting. The views are worthy in 360 degrees, including from "The Draw", a small trail to an overlook of The Gunnison River.
The Green Fish resembles Tiny Houses made famous on television. There are two lofts, each with a very comfortable queen bed and skylights. Each loft does require using a ladder to reach.
When you enter on the ground floor, you'll find a kitchen and bathroom stocked and ready with all the cooking, coffee and potty essentials. Theres a futon seating area with a huge window to take in the scene and surrounding area. The Wifi throughout is fast and reliable for remote workers and content watchers.
Once you've had a chance to settle in, the fire pit with stocked wood is set up for a really special evening. All by yourself, or with your person or friends by your side, looking down at the fire and up at the stars is really wonderful.
This space is set up to be a home base for outdoor adventures too. Hikers and bikers and skiers and hunters and fishermen and climbers are welcome here. The area provides ample opportunities to do all of these and more. The Black Canyon is close and The Grand Mesa is closer. There is plenty of parking for all your toys and trucks and even your big 'ole cross-country moving van.
I manage this property by myself and with my crack cleaning team to help turn it over between reservations. I've automated much of the communication to give you the best information immediately. I also communicate personally through the messages to make sure you've got all you need.
The nearby towns of Delta, Hotchkiss, Paonia and Cedaredge (30 mins or less) are packed with artisans, markets, groceries, gas and events. It's easy to stock up nearby for anything you really need.
Larger, more touristy towns like Ouray, Telluride, Montrose, Moab and Grand Junction are all very doable day trips.
Marijuana tourism is welcome on this property. You can smoke on site, but NOT inside, pretty please. Now recreationally available in Cedaredge (15 mins).
This is 100% a home of tolerance, acceptance and respect. Everyone is welcome here. This includes all LGBTQ folks. It also includes black, brown, white, and every single shade of person. Theres is no politics nor preaching nor any controversial opinions here. Just a good place to relax and take in the views.
Check-in information will be sent three days prior to your arrival. Directions to The Green Fish are reliable on Apple Maps and the one that begins with G too. It can be difficult to see the entrance in the dark so keep your eyes open.
The Green Fish is one of Four tiny homes on the property which I almost always rent out individually. They are very private and it is easy for guests to choose to interact with others, or not.
Once the time is right, you'll arrive on the property and check yourselves in. No need to wait for a person or permission to check in. You will have the code to the electronic lock a few days before you arrive.
Currently, I split time between Orchard City and Denver. You may see me, or you may not, but when I have the opportunity I always love to put faces to names.
Let's call it a Big Old Neighborhood. This neighborhood includes the charming towns of Delta, Cedaredge, Paonia and Hotchkiss nearby (10-30mins). These small towns are packed with gem excursions for the outdoor lover, wine and cider taster, sightseer and people looking for fun things to do.
If you're willing to make longer drives for more well-known towns and excursions, you can home base from here to Telluride, Moab, Ouray and a plethora of hot springs in many directions.
The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is nearby. This Green Fish is about equidistant to both the North and South rim entrances of the park.
The Grand Mesa is our other most notable and closest geological wonder. It is the largest flat top mountain IN THE WORLD! It features over 300 lakes and some of the best outdoor recreation in the world. My guests love hiking, fishing and hunting when the season is right, but I would love to attract a winter sports loving tribe.
Wineries and cider producers abound nearby. So do small businesses and restaurants. It's easy to support, eat, drink, sleep and shop locally all in one stay.
You're going to need wheels for this vacation. Either two or four. Once arrived and supplied, there might not be any reason to leave the property. That being said, getting here and getting away, you really need some motorized transportation. Uber, Lyft and Taxis are not realistic options in the area.
The access to and from the property is easy and paved all the way. You may have to come over snowy mountains to get here, but it snows very little in Orchard City and the neighborhood is generally much flatter and has well maintained roads.
After significant experimentation, The Green Fish is no longer pet-friendly. The other Tiny Houses on the property will continue to welcome your furry friends. If you are bringing a service animal, I would still suggest that each of the other tiny houses are a better fit for you and your companion.
Smoking is allowed on-site, but not inside.
After significant experimentation, we have decided NOT to welcome pets into this listing. Please see the other tiny homes which remain pet-friendly.
Pretty pretty please, do not bring people to the property who are unaccounted for in the reservation.
Smoking is allowed OUTSIDE ONLY.
