Double Booked!!!
I booked this property on July 17, 2024 for a stay from Sept. 22 to 26, 2024. We received an immediate confirmation from VRBO. The day before our arrival, I sent a note to the property owner through the VRBO app requesting check in instructions. I received no response. We made our way to the property and found the unit. We also found a person leaving the unit who indicated he had booked it as well beginning the prior week. Several attempts to contact the property owner by phone and email and through the VRBO app by the person who was occupying the unit and myself went unanswered. I finally booked a hotel that was somewhat close and stayed there during our Munich visit. Approx. 5 hours later, the VRBO/property owner cancelled our reservation and refunded our money. Apparently the property owner had listed it on another rental service causing the double booking. The following day we were contacted by VRBO who is reimbursing us for our hotel costs.
VRBO handled the situation well, so my comments are mainly directed at the property owner. Accidents happen and VRBO has acted professionally in addressing what must be a top priority for them - ensuring a property is available when booked. When this doesn’t happen, I hope they address it with this property owner who clearly could use guidance with being professional. Not only did they not respond to multiple attempts to contact them but they did not offer an apology.
