Arriving down a quiet country lane, heading out towards the moors, Lark Rise was the meal barn for the original farm at Combe. It was converted many years ago and recently restored to provide a perfect space for 2 to get away and relax. Access is up 2 steps and inside space is all one level.
The Space:
Lark Rise is a self contained rural retreat in a small hamlet in the beautiful Somerset countryside. It has recently been refurbished and offers a king size bed, a comfortable sofa and armchair, an extendable table (ideal if wanting to work remotely from here) and chairs, TV and WiFi. It offers a fitted kitchen, fully equipped for 2 people, including a nescafe dolce gusto coffee machine, for which you are welcome to bring your favourite pods. A small selection are included in your welcome pack. The bathroom has a good sized shower, sink and wc.
For those staying for longer breaks there is now a washing machine in the kitchen.
Following feedback a hairdryer, clothes airer, iron and ironing board are also now provided.
There is a private outdoor space to enjoy a morning coffee or unwind in the evenings with an outdoor blanket provided if required.
Lark Rise is in the grounds of the owners home, on site parking is easily accessible.
We regret NO dogs are allowed as we have animals and free range chickens- fresh eggs available. Adults only
Guest Access:
Guests have sole access to the area in front of the property. Parking is in a designated space to the side of the property along side the owners vehicles.
The Neighborhood:
Combe is a small friendly hamlet in the beautiful Somerset countryside just outside Langport. Lark Rise is a peaceful haven with the gentle sounds of local farms, wildlife and the distant rumble of trains passing through.
It is a short walk to the river Parett which can be followed along the Parrett trail into the ancient market town of Langport with its many fine historic buildings. Canoeing and paddle boarding are available on the river and at certain times of the year The Duchess of Cocklemoor boat is available to hire. The town boasts an unusual collection of shops, some fine independent cafes and restaurants, a butchers with a green grocers and a bakers along with 2 small supermarkets and a post office.
Getting Around:
There are limited buses from Langport to Taunton, Yeovil and Street to name a few. Travelling by car is probably the best way to enjoy all that is on offer. Lark Rise is within easy reach of the Somerset Levels including the nature reserves of Swell Wood, Westhay, Greylake and Ham Hill giving an opportunity to spot Cranes, Bitterns and the Starling mummurations.There are many local historic sites and the towns of Somerton, Glastonbury, Street, Wells, Bridgwater,Taunton, Yeovil are all within 20 miles.
Other Things to Note:
We have free range chickens, they don't have access to your garden area, unless they escape! We have a cat, a dog and at times pigs too. We have a small holding but life here is generally peaceful.

Some local events:
Held on Fridays the Langport market is open for business from 10am to 2pm, with a Vintage Market held on the 2nd Saturday of the month 10-4, weather permitting and the permanent Kim Woods Vintage Quarter in the Undercroft on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10-4.

Interaction with Guests:
We live at the property and I work from home some of the time. My workshop is detached from Lark Rise. The office is adjacent but we are mindful of times we use it. Please message or knock on the house or workshop door if any assistance is required.
