In Ketchikan for a week to meet our son at the finish line of the R2AK (Race to Alaska) ocean sailing race. Mindy and Andrew, and their children, are a delight, such kind and wonderful hosts. They live onsite. Mindy gladly offered and shared with us anything we might be missing. The apartment we had (one of two they rent) was two floors beneath their own home, all on a steep hill, so each unit has spectacular views. Many steps down, many steps back up, so 'ify' only if stairs are a problem. Scrupulously clean, well-equipped, great bed, amazing view, great internet for working remotely.
Our son was able to stay on the excellent pull-out in the living room, which could have accommodated two 'cozily'. Super-close to downtown - 6 houses' walk, then down a city-owned stairway, where the downtown shuttle and longer-range city buses stop. Alternatively, only a short cab ride from almost everything. A real find. My only hesitation...it may well become hard to book because it's such a stellar spot, and Mindy + family are such stellar hosts. Andrew and Barbara Roberts
