Snowshoe Cabin - Spacious Rustic Retreat w/ Loft
Explore thousands of acres of public forest land and enjoy endless miles of some of the best recreational trails Minnesota has to offer. Step out of the Cabin, located in the middle of Lake County forested land, and right onto mountain bike trails, atv, snowshoe, snowmobile and ski trails . This is a rustic, maintained Cabin so come prepared to relax, unwind and enjoy/explore the wonders of the north woods.
This cabin features a main floor and a loft. It includes two double beds & a small single, as well as a kitchenette and wood heater.
This cabin is nestled in the Lake County surrounded by forest. Our cabins are 400 square feet in diameter and insulated for year round use, complete with woodstove. Firewood is provided only for heating with the woodstove. The cabin comes equipped with bunk bed; a full mattress on the bottom and a twin mattress on top, there is also a loft with an additional queen. No linens or pillows are provided, so be sure to pack your sleeping bag. A picnic table is also located outside the cabin.
Outside the cabin we have picnic table, fire ring, and outhouse. A wood fired sauna is available for communal use. This is bear country so please store food inside.
A rundown of the basics:
Bathrooms: the cabin does not have indoor plumbing , but is located near a pit toilet/outhouse, which is available year-round.
Capacity: Can sleep up to 6 people. Additional overnight guests are not allowed.
Cooking: All cabins have a picnic table and fire ring with grill grate for outdoor cooking. No candles, or other open flames are allowed inside the Cabin. Cooking is permitted in the cabin on top of the metal hot plate. Extra caution must be used when cooking inside the cabin.
Electricity: Overhead lighting as well as lamps in the cabin, electrical outlets available, and Wifi as well.
Water: No running water in the cabin but there are multiple wells onsite, filled water jugs are provided at check in.
Heat: Cabins have a wood stove for heat. Split firewood is provided for use in the wood stove only.
Firewood: Wood will be provided for the wood stove which heats the Cabin. Dead and down wood can be collected from the surrounding forest for use in the fire ring.
Boat House: Guests have access to our canoes. Life vests are provided and required while paddling, these can be found in the Boat House. Please return paddles and life vests to Boat House after use. Feel free to explore Sand River or Sand Lake, the Sand Lake public beach (Sand Lake Rustic Campground on Google Maps) is about a 30min paddle away. Please bring your own fishing gear and license if planning to fish.
Wood Burning Sauna: Our sauna is available for guest use, split wood is provided for the wood stove at entrance to sauna. As the sauna heats up use the provided bowl and ladle to increase room temp and humidity by pouring water on hot rocks.

You will find signs with trail names along trail corridors, there are no maps on trail. Trails are available for year round use via hiking, mountain biking, snowshoe, and cross country ski.
