Great location, clean, friendly, good food and very helpful staff. We found nothing to dislike during our 2 night stay.

The blurb says refurbished but is far from the truth. The bedrooms were still a bit grubby. eg the bedroom door handles have not been changed in years. The tops of the plug points were black, the standalone wardrobe door was haning off its top hinge and ist door knob was missing (fallen off otno the floor) The Bathroom was not touched between our two night stay. The beds were very comfortable, the bar staff (Mark in paeticular) was very good. Breakfast could have been better organised but the food is excellent. Just a few minor things need correcting to make this p;ace into a good place but at the moment its "OK"

Quiet rural location in the village of Hathersage. Very welcoming staff on arrival. Good size room nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed.
Excellent food and a good selection of real ales and bottled beers.
Would definitely stay here again.

Not suited for business
Positives:
Staff friendly and pub good for food and drink on evening.
Negatives:
Breakfast not served until 08.30
Wifi not available
Room was noisy on morning as above kitchen - I was up early but had been woken by the noise of water running directly below.
It may be nice on a weekend or for a tourist but the late breakfast and limited wifi meant unsuitable for business use. Would not return to stay but may return for a meal /drink which were excellent on the evening.

A good-value country inn . Beautiful location.
The inn is perfectly situated for exploring the Peaks. The food is good and nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. Our room was well presented but quite small. The facilities were good (plenty of tea/coffee). The mattress (room 4) was in need of replacing. We could feel the springs and it was uncomfortable. Were this replaced, i would recommend this inn without hesitation.

Friendly country pub
On arrival we were met by a friendly and helpful member of staff. Our room had been refurbished and was clean and comfortable if somewhat dated. We had a good evening meal with attentive and helpful staff. Overall a friendly place to stay
