Our family of 5 (ages 12, 14, 43, 45, and 71) stayed at Sandy Beach this past week. What a great place! It's even better than what you see in the pictures. There was plenty of room for all of us, and we had everything we needed. The views were outstanding, and the private beach access was great. We loved having use of the kayaks and used them every day. Grandma even tried kayaking for the first time! We enjoyed swimming and snorkeling with the turtles too. One of the best parts of Sandy Beach is the hospitality. Peter, the owner, thought of everything and was available for any questions we had and often answered the questions we didn't know we had yet! He arranged to have a taxi for us waiting at airport, which allowed us to bypass a long line. He greeted us at arrival to introduce himself and the property, and gave us valuable tips on restaurants, stores and activities nearby. He is very knowledgeable about happenings on the island and helped us arrange some wonderful outings.
Speaking of outings, as a group with 3 generations, we were so pleased with what the Exumas had to offer for all ages! The beach at Hoopers Bay was calm and the water was shallow. The restaurants were accommodating to kids and picky-eaters. My daughter, a vegetarian, had options everywhere we went. We all took Elvis' water taxi to Stocking Island where we enjoyed snorkeling, swimming with rays, and eating at the Chat 'n Chill. Peter suggested a boat tour with Robert's Island Adventures, where we saw iguanas, boated by celebrity owned islands, swam with pigs and sharks, snorkeled in Thunderball Cave, and stopped at a sandbar. Grandma didn't feel like getting off the boat at every stop, but even so, she thoroughly enjoyed the trip! The Tropic of Cancer beach with lunch at Santanna's and dessert at Mom's bakery should not be missed! It was very easy to get around the island by car.
We are definitely planning on coming back to the beautiful Exumas and we will book Sandy Palms again!
