Right off the breezeway deck, we have a gas grill and picnic table for outside cooking and dining. Later in the evening relax rewind and recount the day's adventures around the firepit. The woodshed is loaded with free firewood. Behind the house is a two-acre play and picnic area bordered by a small creek. A place to run your dogs, play badminton, volleyball, horseshoes or simply sit by the creek and contemplate the water flowing on its trip from the mountains to the sea while sipping wine with your favorite other. During the season we encourage you to make use of the blueberry bushes and enjoy the fresh fruit. Although quiet and somewhat secluded, it is only a ten-minute drive to downtown Franklin on paved roads with easy year-round access. Minutes more to Sylva, Harrah's Cherokee Casino, and Western Carolina University. Pets are welcome when our $75 per visit Pet Fee is added. The Smart TV has Roku integrated and has the icons for most streaming services on the screen. Guests can click on any and log in on their accounts and enjoy their preferred services. Be sure and write your login credentials down when you travel.

Franklin offers a unique charming small mountain town feel with plenty of options for dining, shopping, museums, breweries, activities, events, and much more. Franklin is considered the "Gem Capital of the World", where you can mine for precious stones, explore the natural beauty of the Nantahala Forest, check out the Little Tennessee River, or enjoy one of the many festivals put on by the town. Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, and the illusive Brook Trout are all caught in rivers, brooks, and creeks throughout the mountains.
Dillsboro is about 15 minutes from the house. Enjoy the quaint shops, galleries, and restaurants. You can join a white water rafting trip on the Tuckasegee River, which offers fun for the whole family!

Bryson City 30 minutes away - try out Deep Creek for a fun adventure for the whole family. Rent tubes and float down the creek, lots of hiking/walking trails, waterfalls, and swimming holes. Ride Smoky Mountain Railway with a steam locomotive.
Bryson City also has a great downtown area for shopping, food, candy, ice cream, breweries, restaurants, and a fantastic park along the river accessible by footbridge only. This park offers a secluded landscape for tourists, hikers, wildlife watchers, and anglers. This park may hold the area’s largest and oldest tree. Visit Island Park, and you will not be disappointed.
Looking for adventure, Nantahala Outdoor Center is 40 minutes away. This is the place to go to kayak or SUP Lake Fontana, fly above the trees with Mountaintop Zip line tours, or test your skills at the Zip Line Adventure Park. River trips and rafting are among the many things to do, and there are also packages that include multiple excursions. There are also 9 miles of biking trails, an outfitter's store, and dining options. Great place to take the family!
