Host cancelled hours before check in
3 days after the reservation and only 3-4 hours before the check in the host canceled. We found out only 1 hour before check in and as we had just landed in El Calafate. Host sent us one single sentence in Spanish, offered no explanations nor any suggestions to help us find something at the last minute. I contacted the host for help and got back no responses.
We wish truly to have been able to stay and recommend this property to others but be aware of last minute cancellations.
To VRBO: just like I as a guest cannot cancel after a certain period without repercussions… the same policy should apply to your hosts.
If your host is triple booking their property on multiple booking platforms this should be controlled for. Furthermore if it’s still unavoidable and you see a reservation cancelled hours before check in your systems should pick that up automatically and PROACTIVELY offer support to a guest even when the host is being unresponsive.
