We had a lovely time staying under the dome, which is especially well-suited for couples, although if you have kids, they can stay in the living room area comfortably. All of the furnishings are very comfortable, the kitchen has all the necessities, and the bathroom has plenty of space along with a luxurious tub.
This is actually a duplex, this half being around the back, and the other half also gets rented out under a separate listing. The adjoining wall on this side is only along the kitchen wall off the living room, so you will have privacy in the rest of the house.
The house sits at the very edge of the San Luis Valley, right next to the mountains, where the trees give way to the shrubs and dry plants of the valley. The yard is filled with fragrant plants (one of those smells that you wish you could just take with you), bringing you into nature as soon as you step outside.
The nearest town is Crestone, which is a tiny little place with an unusual vibe. It's a good spot (and really, the only spot nearby) for grabbing a few light groceries or getting something to eat for dinner if you aren't out and about seeing the rest of the valley. The house is a good staging area for seeing the Great Sand Dunes, Zapata Falls, and the nearby hot springs/pools, if you don't mind a little bit of a drive to get to those places.
Overall, we certainly recommend this dome if you're looking for a quiet and comfortable place to stay in the area!
