This was one of the finest places we have stayed! It was perfect for us: no frills or fanciness, but some really fine, classy details, like wonderful dishes and silverware, amazing windows with a fantastic view that were easy to open and close (and provided great ventilation), comfy furniture, everything you could ever need in a place, and a fine washer and dryer. Also, five minutes to a rock and sand beach past a wetland and some small fields and down a wooded path that for a birder like me, was pure, unadulterated heaven. We fell in love the moment we opened the door, and it never wavered the entire five days we were there, awaiting Hurricane Lee and stealing hikes in the Cape Breton National Park when we could, and eating AuCoin baked goods when we could not. And the visit from the caretakers, Roger and Priscille, just added to our admiration for this place as they were wonderful people who were instantly friendly and kind. He fixed a door that was stuck and she regaled us with tales…we loved it! The only downside to this terrific gem of a small place: it is not for tall people upstairs! The ceiling where the bedrooms and the bathroom are, are sloped and one has to adapt pretty fast or risk bopping your head all the time. I am 5 feet tall and I had to adapt! But the bathroom is decent sized and the shower works fine and the beds are small but comfy, so we are not complaining. We would go back in a heartbeat. It is a place of character and the love involved with its pores.
