Sanctuary Vacation Rentals is proud to present "Carmel Nest"! This home sleeps 6 to 8 guests.

This home is a 2,650 sf classic Mid-Century Modern with a Carmel, California twist. With 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 2 living room/media areas, it’s a good base for your coastal adventure.

Living Spaces
A drought-resistant, beautifully-landscaped front yard and stone patio, welcome you to the property. A Dutch door leads to a roomy foyer with high ceilings that features an open wood staircase leading up to the primary suite, and access to a charming brick patio. Two chaise lounges, 2 chairs and a gas grill make for a relaxing outdoor experience.

Wood-paneled walls adorn most rooms, while floors are brick or richly-hued wood. Off the entry, you’ll find a family room with wood flooring and two sofas, one of which opens to a queen sofa bed. The room is equipped with a sink, microwave and a 46” TV. The fireplace is decorative only.

A media room off the kitchen has brick flooring accented with a colorful rug. Enjoy your favorite programming on the 42” TV, while lounging comfortably on the large sofa, or one of 2 roomy chairs. This room is also home to the washer and dryer.

Kitchen and Dining
The kitchen is covered in rich-wood floors and a skylight that brightens the space. A breakfast nook sits next to a window where you can enjoy the morning sun. Gourmet appliances include a 6-burner gas Zline range, Samsung refrigerator with 2 freezer drawers and an in-door water/ice dispenser, Bosch dishwasher and all the small appliances you’ll need for a great stay. The center of the kitchen is u-shaped with a stone countertop that accommodates seating for two. Both Keurig and drip coffee makers provide options for your morning brew.
The formal dining room is set with a wood table and 6 chairs. Two comfy occasional chairs occupy opposite corners.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Bedroom #1: Take the stairs in the foyer to the primary suite which occupies the upper floor. The spacious suite boasts striking wood floors, a king bed in a seagrass bed frame, nightstands with lamps, a comfy chair and a 50” TV set on an Asian themed dresser. The en suite bath features stone tile flooring, a large shower, a closet and a Toto toilet.

Downstairs, Bedroom #2 features a king bed, twin nightstands with lamps, a dresser, 2 chairs and an en suite bathroom. A stone tile floor graces the bathroom that includes a shower over tub, a commode and a closet where linens are tucked neatly away.

Bedroom #3 features a queen bed, 2 nightstands with lamps, a cozy reading chair, a closet and wood floors. The en-suite bathroom includes a walk-in shower, a vanity with sink and stone tile flooring.

The 4th full bathroom is located inside the media room and it has a standing shower.

It’s a short drive or walk to town along the quiet streets. Stroll down Ocean Avenue to the sandy stretch of beach, one of the only area beaches where dogs can frolic off-leash. Explore the streets of the village where you’ll find wine tasting venues, gourmet grocery stores and delis, world-class restaurants, cafes, shops and art galleries. A short drive takes you to The Crossroads, The Barnyard and Carmel Rancho shopping centers where you’ll find even more services, restaurants and shopping. Plan a day trip or two to explore Carmel Valley, Big Sur, Pacific Grove and Monterey and discover the unique aspects of the Monterey Peninsula.

Driveway parking for 3 vehicles plus street parking. The garage is not available for guest use.

Well-behaved small dogs are welcome with pre-approval, an additional pet fee and a signed pet addendum.

Wonderful stay in Carmel
We had three couples stay for three nights. It was a great house as there were three bedrooms with three baths; so we all got privacy but also a way to have communal meals and time together. The area is quiet and within easy driving to 17 mile drive and the aquarium.

Unique property with pluses and minuses
This is a unique property that represents a good value in an expensive area. The unique features will appeal to some but not all visitors. The property management company was extremely easy to deal with and was very responsive. The property itself has a unique floor plan that provides privacy for occupants of all three bedrooms (Each of which has an en-suite bathroom). The house was very clean, well equipped and well maintained. The neighborhood was attractive and very quiet. Despite what other reviews have indicated, I would not consider this house walkable to the downtown Carmel area. It is a long winding walk with no sidewalks for much of the way and the streets are very dark after sunset. The walk back from town is also fairly steep uphill. A final observation - a number of other reviewers have commented on the soft or squishy beds. We found two of the three beds quite comfortable but the third, which would appear to be the primary bedroom with a king size bed was way too soft. On closer inspection, we discovered it has a 3-inch foam mattress topper. Perhaps some people like this feel but we considered it almost unusable and were surprised that the mattress has not been replaced given the nightly rate for this otherwise nice home.

Beautiful home in a great location
Overall our stay was great. The home is beautiful and in a wonderful location. We were able to walk to town from the house which was nice. Unfortunately the heater was not working properly during our stay. The property management team was prompt about responding and sending someone out to look at it, but it was a more complicated fix and could not be fixed during our stay. The management team was helpful and worked with me on this issue which I appreciated. Even with the heater issue, we still enjoyed our stay here and especially loved exploring Carmel and the surrounding towns.

+ The house is well equipped. Property management very responsive. Easy check in. Clean & plenty of space. Good quiet location. Easy access to Carmel, beaches, state parks, Monterey etc. A lovely time - We found the beds uncomfortably squishy. Platforms protrude about 4 inches beyond mattresses -- bumping hazard esp in the dark. Also pillows are some weird lumpy foam.

We enjoyed our stay. The house had two separate "wings" which made for a good amount of privacy for all of us. We loved that each bedroom (+ media room) had a bathroom. We would have preferred firmer beds. Also, the driving directions were confusing and didn't work for us (driving south on hgwy 1). We ended up using GPS and it worked out fine. You may want to consider removing those directions from the documents you send out to renters. The property managers were very responsive when I needed to communicate with them. Thank you for that!

Epic Mother/daughter trip
Our Senior girls in High School wanted to take a trip with their mothers for Sprjng Break and this was the best trip. The house was amazing with many seating places we could use for our group. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. The house was walkable to the town if people wanted to go down the beach or get coffee in town. Lots of beautiful flowers around too to enjoy. Thanks for a lovely stay and for the memories.

I rented this house for myself and family members to stay for my daughters wedding. It was perfect for our needs. Every bedroom was nice and had its own bathroom. The foyer and connecting yard are beautiful. The home is well stocked and beautifully decorated. We would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable Stay for Large Group
We were a group of six adults in town for a wedding. As other reviewers mentioned the layout of the house is a bit of a maze. But that split floor plan did allow for everyone in our group to have their own private space. So, while it is strange, it did work for us. We had some issues with the cleanliness and the rental company addressed them right away. Hopefully the guests that stay after us won't have the same experience. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. Overall we had a nice stay.

Property is not what it appears to be. Additions done haphazardly and not all rooms have heat. Kitchen is very small and not equipped as would be expected. Bring your own knives as the larger carving knives will only cut butter.

Business trip - Monterey Car Week
The house was one of 8 properties we booked for Monterey car week. It was the perfect place to house colleagues and retreat from the daily hustle of our event. My only wish is that the team wasn't working so hard so they could have enjoyed the property more!!! Would book here again next year!
