The floor and bed were very squeaky. The breakfast was excellent. Staff were very helpful.

We booked a deluxe room which turned out to be a spacious 1 bedroom apartment. We were luck to get one of the 4 free parking spaces (which is a considerable benefit for Cambridge with parking prices as they are). Breakfast was plentiful and if good quality. The location was good, close to restaurants and bars but not surrounded by noise and rowdy people. 10/15 minutes walk to the very centre of town. Staff were polite and helpful too. Couldn’t fault it.

An old, tired 3* hotel = 2*!

Pros: The breakfast room and reception were decorated to a relatively high standard for a 3* 'spa' hotel
Cons: As soon as you move upstairs to the bedroom area, the décor and cleanliness drops noticeably
Location: Near to the centre of town, and a competitive price
The principle is fine - a basic hotel in the middle of the town, which is relatively cheap. It has, however, got to a point of desperately needing even some small investment. An accumulation of easy-to-fix things like a gaping tear in the stained net curtain, a door mat used as a shower mat, the shower head only reaching 4ft high, and the bathroom needing a good scrub, all let this hotel down. 2*
