When my husband and I checked in the reservation from expedia hasn't come through but the lovely owners of the hotel fixed it for us so we had a great room for two days as planned. They were genuinely nice and helpful and gave us tips for things to do in the area. We felt extremely comfortable and loved the room we had.
Breakfast was very good, the food freshly made and you got to choose between full cornish breakfast and other hot dishes. Loved the homemade jam and marmalade from granny a lot.
We met the two chocolate labs Bonnie and Clyde and debated whether we could steal them because they were so cute and friendly. ;-)
The only thing I didn't love was the dinner we had. My husband enjoyed his starter, pork belly and dessert (crumble), but my starter (soup of the day) was lacking seasoning, the beef bourguignon main course was very fatty and the meat had a strange texture so I just ate the sides (mashed potatoes were delicious). The waitresses weren't very attentive and when one of them cleared my plate she asked "was everything all right" when she saw my uneaten meat but was gone before i could answer. I would have loved to have the crumble, too, but after asking two different waitresses, it was confirmed that it had almonds, so i couldn't eat it because of my allergy. I wasn't asked if i would like some other dessert, she just went away. Since dinner was pricey, I was a little disappointed. Had our first Pimms Cocktails, the were so delicious.
